Beijing Airport Prohibited Items List
Every year at Beijing Capital (PEK) and Beijing Daxing (PKX), hundreds of well-meaning travelers slow their own entry—or face confiscation and fines—simply because they never reviewed the actual Beijing airport prohibited items list before packing. China Customs and General Administration of Customs rules apply uniformly, but enforcement is tightest at major ports of entry, and "I didn't know" is not a defense.
Absolute Prohibitions (Never Bring In)
The core Beijing airport prohibited items list is codified in the PRC Prohibited/Restricted Entry–Exit Items Tablesand the Animal & Plant Quarantine Ban List. You may not import:
- Weapons & explosives — firearms, ammunition, realistic simulation guns, and detonators/explosive material
- Controlled drugs & lethal poisons without explicit official authorization (narcotics, psychotropic/abusable substances, highly toxic chemicals)
- Harmful media — printed matter, discs, USB/computer media, and audiovisual content deemed harmful to national politics, economy, culture, or public morals
- Counterfeit currency/securities
- Live animals (only dogs/cats may enter, one per passenger, with output-country official quarantine + rabies/vaccination certificates; everything else is banned)
- Fresh fruit/vegetables, soil, untreated meat/animal products (milk, eggs, most animal-derived foods), and most unapproved seeds/seedlings/propagative plant material
Commonly Seized "Gray-Area" Souvenirs
What many travelers overlook on the Beijing airport prohibited items list: exotic leather, ivory or CITES-protected animal/plant products and derivatives, unauthorized cultural relics, and undeclared bulk precious-metal items. Drones, high-power radio transmitters, and certain biologics also trigger mandatory declaration or denial.
The Practical Rule
If your item is alive, agricultural, medicinal-exotic, or remotely weapon-adjacent—check the Beijing airport prohibited items list, declare it at the Red Channel, and speak to an officer. Confiscation is the best-case outcome; concealment can escalate fast. When in doubt, don't pack it.
